The Art of Transition — Paper Marbling and Poetry Workshop Recap

Where Ink Meets Inspiration: A Journey in Art and Poetry

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Paper Marbling and Poetry: The Art of Transitioning workshop. It was such a meaningful experience as we explored the ways art can help us release the old and make room for the new. Watching each of you engage with the process—whether through the fluid motions of marbling or the quiet reflection in writing—was truly inspiring.

We started with Japanese paper marbling, a technique where ink is floated on water and then manipulated to create unique patterns. The paper is carefully placed on the surface, absorbing the ink in different ways, creating a design that cannot be replicated, nor predicted. It’s a process that requires patience, trust, and a bit of letting go—which mirrors the act of transitioning and release in life. As the colors spread and blend, we’re reminded how things can flow and shift in unexpected but beautiful ways. We thought this exercise would help open us up to the endless uncertainties that presents itself this new year.

From there, we moved into guided poetry prompts, creating space for reflection and introspection. The prompts intended to help us pause and really tune in, allowing our thoughts to flow onto the page in an organic, free-flowing way. Watching everyone take those raw thoughts and transform them into poems—each so unique, so deeply personal—was such a beautiful reminder of how healing art can be when we allow ourselves to be vulnerable.

We want to thank each of you for your openness and bravery in sharing your creations and reflections. It’s not easy to dig deep, but you all showed up with grace and courage, and for that, we am truly grateful. Each of your contributions added something special to the experience.
